Ashish is the MD and CEO of BSE, the first stock exchange of India. BSE is ranked as the largest exchange in the world in terms of number of stocks listed.

Ashish has been given the Distinguished Alumnus Award for the year 2014 by his alma mater, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. In 2014, he has also received the best CEO in the Financial Markets in the Asia Pacific by the Asian Banker. He was ranked amongst the top 50 Chief Information Officer (CIO) by several magazines and institutions between 2005 and 2009 including CIO Magazine US, Information Week, US etc.

Ashish is best known as the father of modern financial derivatives in India. He was part of a small team of 5 people selected from IDBI to set up National Stock Exchange (NSE). At NSE, he set up the first commercial satellite network, initial technology platform, Nifty index, NSE's certification in financial markets (NCFM), listing, derivatives markets etc. At BSE, he has been responsible to bring the fastest trading system in India with 200 microsecond’s response time. In addition, he has also been responsible for revamping of BSE, bringing equity, currency and interest rate derivatives to BSE, introducing mobile trading system in India and several other achievements.

BACKGROUND:

Under the India initiatives and its plans to project growth at 8% and above it needs strong growth partners and funding to drive and sustain progress. US, specifically Minnesota is working on future large initiatives such as the World’s Fair Expo 2023 planned to be in held in Minnesota with an estimate of $1.6 billion, Mayo Clinic is planning a 20 year initiative of making this regions as the Worlds Destination Medical Center with $5.5 billion plus investments in phases, and Minnesota winning the Super Bowl 2018 with a brand new stadium being built for this.

This region is spurring growth and innovation and therefore major financial sector players are assessing to either moving-in and or setting up new offices, branches etc. in this region. Minnesota is now known as “Bold North State” moving away from its traditional “Cold North State” tag.

RECENT: US-INDIA HEALTHCARE SUMMIT

The recently concluded B2B healthcare summit was attended by H.E. Ambassador Arun Singh as the chief guest of honor along with Consul General Dr. Sayeed to Minnesota from (Aug 1-4, 2015). The US-India Healthcare Summit was organized by the India Chamber of Commerce, USA in partnership with the Consulate General of India, Chicago, that saw about 28 world-renowned surgeons from University of Minnesota Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, AIIMS-Delhi, Mohan’s Diabetes, Narayana Hospital and others that include 70+ practitioners, researchers, corporates (UHG, Medtronic, 3M Healthcare etc.), CEOs, from US and India. Further, meetings with the Governor, Lt. Governor, Commissioner of Economic Development & Trade and Commissioner of Health was held including several B2B meetings with CEO’s, and company site visits, to share the opportunities available under Make In India initiatives with possibilities for integration and to explore collaborative partnerships in healthcare.
