India Chamber USA Congratulates R. Naqvi on ESC Recognition

The India Chamber of Commerce USA extends its warmest congratulations to Mr. Riaz H. Naqvi, Pioneer of India’s Global Technology Export Ecosystem and Former IT Ambassador of India to the United States, on being honored with a Special Citation of Recognition by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council at INDIASOFT & India Electronics Expo 2026 in New Delhi on 24 March 2026. 

Mr. Naqvi is widely regarded as one of the early architects of India’s information technology sector, having contributed to the policy and institutional frameworks that enabled the industry to scale from approximately $60 million to over $100 billion globally. 

Over a distinguished public service career spanning more than two decades, he served as Chief of Staff to Union Cabinet Ministers across key ministries including Information Technology, Commerce, Science & Technology, Renewable Energy, and Information & Broadcasting.

He played a foundational role in establishing India’s technology export infrastructure, including Software Technology Parks of India and the development of Northern India’s first Special Economic Zone in Noida. As the Founding Executive Director of ESC, he helped build a national platform connecting Indian technology enterprises with global markets.

In recognition of his contributions, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee honored him with the Exceptional Leadership Award and appointed him India’s IT Ambassador to the United States, where he established the India InfoTech Center in Silicon Valley, strengthening international technology partnerships and investment engagement.
